Dr. Fahire Goknur Akarca was the recipient of the Hans Popper Hepatopathology Society 2024 Best Abstract Award for her USCAP abstract entitled: Role of Genomic Changes in the Classification of Well-differentiated Hepatocellular Lesions.
Dr. Matthew Stachler was recently awarded The Shure Family Charitable Foundation in memory of Max Shure Award from the Prevent Cancer Foundation for his project entitled "Immune Determinants of Barrett's Esophagus Progression".
Two members of our department have received prestigious teaching awards from the UCSF School of Medicine in recognition of their outstanding small group teaching.
Dr. Ruth Zhang received the 2023 Rodger C. Haggitt Gastrointestinal Pathology Society Abstract Award (runner up) for her 2023 USCAP platform.
Arie Perry, Max Krummel, Eric Huang, and Bill Seeley, received honors in being among the thirty-six UC San Francisco researchers who rank in the top 1 percent for impact in their fields.
Drs. Jay Debnath in Pathology and Arun Wiita in Lab Medicine lead the UCSF team for a new Transformative Breast Cancer Consortium Award from the U.S. Department of Defense that seeks to kill metastatic cancer’s deadly seeds before they can sprout.
