Department of Pathology Alumni Newsletter, Issue 17

The UCSF Pathology Department participated en masse at the 2024 Annual Meeting of the US and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP), including through their 49 abstracts presented by UCSF trainees and faculty as well as multiple other lectures or moderator/panelist duties. For the abstracts, we are happy to note that 13 trainees (residents and fellows), 1 medical student, 34 AP faculty, and 5 Lab Medicine faculty were co-authors. Among these abstracts, there was a record number of 16 Platform presentations that involved our faculty, with trainees presenting 4/16 platforms. Thirteen trainees also presented posters, and remarkably, each of the 4 trainee platform presenters also had a poster! Twenty-one faculty members had more than 1 abstract, and 12 had more than 2. In addition, multiple faculty members had other types of presentations (11 total), including both formal and informal teaching presentation and session moderators/panelists. The Department also hosted an alumni reception on Sunday Mar 24 that was fully open this year to not only all of department attendees and alumni, but also friends of the department, so the event was well-attended and was enjoyed by many from the start at 8 pm to the finish at 10:30 pm. We thank Dr Debnath for again hosting the party on behalf of the Department. We also thank Lyobov (Lulu) Loza for her onsite help with the Fellowship Fair, Reception, and for putting together the USCAP Master Schedule (included in the next few pages, which in itself was a big job given our incredible amount of participation in the meeting!
