Research Opportunities

Research During Residency Training

Residents typically have opportunities to participate in clinical and translational research projects during training, often based on or including clinical cases encountered in their rotations. Departmental support for such projects is available through the department chairs. The departments will provide travel expenses for residents selected to present their research results at regional or national meetings. (This travel support may be limited to one meeting per year, depending on available funds.)

Research Outside of Formal Residency Training (Post-Doctoral Research Fellowships)

The departments will provide salary support consistent with the resident's level of post-graduate training, for a period of two years, for residents in good standing who are interested in pursuing a research fellowship but are unable to obtain funding from other sources. Projects and mentors must be approved by the department chairs.

Clinical and Translational Sciences Training

Residents interested in pursuing Clinical and Translational research can take advantage of training opportunities available through the CTST (Clinical and Translational Sciences Training) program. Specific course lists are available through the TICR (Training in Clinical Research) website.
