Interpretation A Gradient value of greater than 1.1 g/dL is seen in transudates.
A Gradient value of less than 1.2 g/dL is seen in exudates.

Collection Instructions Serum should be collected within 24 hours of fluid specimen.

Special instructions Any body fluid for chemical analysis that might clot should be collected in a heparinized syringe or placed in a green top blood collection tube.
Stability 3 days at 4 degrees C.
