Additional information Direct agglutination tests with H and O antigens may be useful if cultures are negative. A rise in titer is presumptive evidence of Salmonella typhi or other salmonellae infection.

Titers are affected by: typhoid immunization; the presence of "normal" agglutinins, and antibiotic therapy.
