Amount to Collect entire ejaculate
Collection Instructions Specimen for Sperm Analysis: Freshly ejaculated semen collected in a clean container (preferably urine cup from the clinic). Date and time of collection must be recorded on the requisition. The specimen must be delivered to the laboratory within 1 hour of collection. The semen specimen should be collected after 3-7 days of abstinence.

Specimen from Post-Vasectomy Patients: Freshly ejaculated semen collected in a clean container (preferably urine cup from the clinic). Date and time of collection must be recorded on the requisition. The specimen must be delivered to the laboratory the same day as collection.
Normal range
Viscosity = slightly viscous
Volume = greater than 2 mL
Motility = greater than 50% within 2 hours of collection
Sperm Count = greater than 20 million/mL
Morphology = greater than 30% morphologically normal

Stability The specimen should be examined as soon as possible.
Additional information INDICATIONS: Infertility; effectiveness of vasectomy.
