Principle Arthropods such as lice, ticks, mites and fly larvae may be found on the body of patients. Identification is by macroscopic, and if necessary, microscopic evaluation.
Container type Screw-cap tube or screw-cap container. Arthropods and fly larvae are to be submitted in alcohol (70%) in tube or container, securely closed. Do not place in formalin or SAF preservative.
Sample type Parasites: lice, ticks, fly larvae (maggots), skin scrapings for mites
Stability Stable at room temperature. Deliver to Microbiology Lab (2M33) as soon as possible.
