Normal range 40 – 70 mg/dL (2.20-3.86 mmol/L)
60 – 80% of blood glucose levels
CSF Glucose values of < 30 mg/dL (< 1.65 mmol/L) and >300 mg/dL (> 16.53 mmol/L) are considered Critical Values and are called to the physician or patient care unit immediately.
Stability CSF specimens should be analyzed for glucose as soon as possible after collection, in order to minimize any in vitro decrease in glucose concentrations associated with white cell metabolism.
