Overview

The Immunology section of the Clinical Labs provides testing in a variety of areas including: serum protein quantification, autoimmune disease testing, immunology testing, infectious disease serologic testing, HIV and hepatitis viral load testing, and flow immunophenotyping. Most of our testing is antibody-based and utilizes a variety of methodologies including nephelometry, enzyme-linked immunoassays, flow cytometry, indirect immunofluorescence, bDNA analysis, and hybrid capture technology.

Autoimmune disease testing

Covering a wide range of autoimmune diseases including ANA testing and specific autoantibody testing (e.g. Sm, SSA, SSB, gliadin)

Infectious disease serologies

Testing for either exposure to or infection with a variety of infectious agents including HIV, CMV, viral hepatitis, syphilis, rubella, and varicella.

Flow cytometry

For immunophenotyping leukemia and lymphoma, monitoring peripheral blood lymphocyte counts (e.g. CD4/CD8 counts), and neutrophil function (neutrophil oxidative index, NOI)
