Research and Clinical Interests
My interests are in the safety, efficacy and availability of the blood supply. Currently, my interest is in transfusion-related acute lung injury and I am Principal Investigator of a NIH funded Specialized Center of Clinically Oriented Research focused on this condition. Investigators include colleagues in Anesthesia, Critical Care and Laboratory Medicine. In two clinical projects, we are seeking:
- To determine the incidence and risk factors associated with the condition
- To determine any subclinical effects of transfusion on pulmonary function.
In two basic projects, we are investigating the pathophysiology of the condition in mouse and in vitro models.
